Westin Georgetown (2026 Hotel Review)

I stayed at the Westin Georgetown for two nights in February 2026. I really enjoyed my stay!

Right after my stay at The Westin DC City Center, I swapped to the Westin Georgetown for the remainder of my stay in DC.  I’d walked by this hotel a few times, so when I saw a discounted rate pop up, I was excited to check it out!  The exterior of the hotel is gorgeous, so I’d been wondering how the inside held up as well.  I really liked the hotel!

The Westin Georgetown is located on the eastern edge of what I’d consider Georgetown, right by the Foggy Bottom metro station, and is relatively close to Dupont Circle.  I really like this area because you can easily get between four different metro lines and walk to both Georgetown and the National Mall very easily.  Since the hotel is on the downtown side of Georgetown, the area can sometimes get busy on weekend evenings.

The hotel was built in 1984 but has been rebranded a few times, but it was most recently renovated in 2012 according to Wikipedia.  The hotel lobby is relatively small, but I think that was intentional to make it more of a transit space and push people toward the restaurant or café.  The hotel also has also a courtyard, but it was too cold during my visit to really pay it much mind.

The amenities

When you’re traveling to a city hotel in the winter, a good indoor gym is very important, and this gym did not disappoint!  Its split into two sections (left and right of the entrance).  To the left is the cardio area, which has several each of treadmills, ellipticals, bicycles, and rowing machines.

On the right side is the weight room.  The weight room has a large selection of machines and dumbbells.  I’d recommend the gym for a push or pull day.  It’s somewhat limited in leg day equipment.

The room

I got an upgrade to a “larger guest room”, which was pretty good since it was free!  The room had a small foyer, a king bed, and a couch by the window.  I wasn’t able to fully close the window (because it was slightly broken), so we could hear more of the traffic sounds than I would’ve liked.

There was also a very nice desk area that was great for getting a few hours of work done.

I would argue though that the best part of the larger guest room was the larger bathroom!  The bathroom had a separate shower and tub, as well as a separate room for the toilet.  There was one sink, which was great for counter space.  The corner shower was a bit small (as corner showers tend to be), but it was perfectly workable.

The nice thing about the bathroom was that it felt sufficiently spacious without feeling like space was being wasted.

The food

I had breakfast over the course of a couple days.  They have an extensive breakfast menu (over a dozen options), and even a section specifying the “Platinum” breakfast options. As a Titanium member, it always bothers me that it’s called the Platinum benefit and that there’s no Titanium (or Ambassasdor) breakfast…

Elite benefits and recognition

As a Westin-branded hotel, this hotel participates in the Marriott Bonvoy scheme. As a Bonvoy Titanium member, the elite benefits I’m supposed to receive at the hotel are (1) 75% bonus points; (2) space-available complimentary room upgrades; (3) a welcome gift of points or a food/beverage amenity; and (4) Club Lounge access (or breakfast if there isn’t a club lounge). I can confirm that I received all of the above!

The bonus points and welcome gift were easy to come by. The space-available upgrade was to a “Larger Guest Room”, which works for me! This hotel doesn’t have a club lounge, so I did receive breakfast instead. On paper, the hotel does a great job of elite recognition by having a specific part of the menu that specifically says, “if you have Platinum status, order one of these things and you can also have a coffee”.  In practice, if you show up with three people (as I did one of the days), they try to short change you and only take $40 off ($20 off per person times two).  After a bit of pushback pointing out that two of us literally ordered the “Bonvoy breakfast” options, they corrected the bill.  For clarity, I was literally told that they cover all the breakfast if it’s just two people, but for three people they only take $40 off by default.  So giving them more business apparently penalizes you.  Idk the whole thing was weird and awkward but as long as you know what to ask for, it should be fine.

Score and summary

I really liked this hotel. Often you can find it for a similar price to the Westin DC City Center hotel (and many other DC hotels). The staff were pretty good overall. Check-in was easy, and I had generally positive interactions with everyone (4/5). The rooms were nicely appointed, and the bathtub was great. I just wish the windows were more insulated (4/5). The amenities were pretty good (although it was the wrong season for the pool and courtyard). The gym was very good as well! (4/5) The food was great; I really enjoyed all the dishes I tried for breakfast (5/5). The hotel fully honors all the expected Bonvoy benefits, which is great to see, even if it required a bit of prompting one of the days (5/5). Overall, the hotel earns an 21/25. I’d definitely seek out this hotel again (and just ask for a room facing a different direction).
