American Express UK British Airways credit cards

It’s been a long time since I have talked about UK credit cards, but on a recent trip to the UK (which will probably come up on the blog in a couple months), British Airways was pushing their credit cards, and I remembered I should revisit these credit cards. There are two version, a £0Continue reading “American Express UK British Airways credit cards”

Sainsburys bank has killed its Nectar credit card

Back in June, I wrote about the Sainsburys Bank Nectar Credit Card, which I noted as a solid option for people that shop frequently at Sainsburys or Argos in the UK. However, a few days ago, Sainsburys Bank announced it was cutting the card’s earn rate, which effectively kills the card off now. The changesContinue reading “Sainsburys bank has killed its Nectar credit card”

Barclaycard Rewards Card UK

The next non-Amex UK reward credit card I’m going to discuss is the Barclaycard Rewards Card. I find this card a lot less exciting that Barclaycard’s new BA cards.  However, this card is particularly noteworthy because it has no foreign transaction fee, which is uncommon among UK credit cards. I provide the information here justContinue reading “Barclaycard Rewards Card UK”

UK Sainsburys Nectar Credit Card

I decided to take a short break from writing about US credit cards to discuss a UK credit card.  Most non-Amex UK credit cards are relatively unexciting, with the exception of the new BA Barclay cards.  In this post, I’m going to talk about the Sainsburys Bank Nectar Credit Card.  Nectar points are Sainsburys rewardsContinue reading “UK Sainsburys Nectar Credit Card”

Exciting new Barclaycard UK Avios credit cards

A couple weeks ago, Barclays released a new pair of co-branded credit cards that are almost certainly the best non-Amex rewards cards currently available in the UK.  These two cards are the Barclaycard Avios MasterCard (no annual fee) and Avios Plus MasterCard (£20/month = £240/year).  Barclays has recently been expanding their relationship with British Airways,Continue reading “Exciting new Barclaycard UK Avios credit cards”

AMEX UK Platinum card

One of the most coveted (and expensive) credit cards available in the UK is the Amex Platinum Charge Card.  Like the Rewards Gold Credit Card, this card earns American Express Membership Rewards points.  Unlike the Gold Credit Card, you have no pre-set spending limit but instead have to pay off your balance in full everyContinue reading “AMEX UK Platinum card”

AMEX UK Rewards Gold Credit Card

In the last two UK credit card posts, I discussed co-branded Amex cards that directly earn British Airways Avios and Marriott Bonvoy points, respectively.  In this article, I’m going to discuss the American Express Preferred Rewards Gold Credit Card (Gold Card), which earns American Express Membership Rewards points and has an annual fee of £140Continue reading “AMEX UK Rewards Gold Credit Card”

Marriott Bonvoy’s UK credit card

My primary hotel chain that I collect loyalty points with is Marriott.  Marriott is the largest hotel chain in the world since its merger with Starwood a few years ago.  After that merger, the new Marriott Bonvoy changed around its credit card setup because Marriott partnered with Chase and Starwood partnered with American Express.  AsContinue reading “Marriott Bonvoy’s UK credit card”

American Express UK British Airways credit cards (2021 outdated)

I’ve been talking a lot recently with my friends and colleagues about credit cards and rewards points in general.  These conversations initially led to the inclusion of points earned for the various flights detailed on the blog. A lot of other travel blogs also include information about points programs and credit cards, so I thoughtContinue reading “American Express UK British Airways credit cards (2021 outdated)”
