Bonus Club Europe flight for me!

This is a continuation of the previous post for Club Europe from Helsinki

Upon arriving in London, Krister and I parted ways.  I continued on to Manchester after a connection in Heathrow.  Flights from Helsinki on both BA and Finnair arrive into Terminal 3, so I had to take a shuttle bus for arriving passengers to Terminal 5 to connect onward.  I cleared passport control automatically once arriving in terminal 5.  It took about 30 minutes to get from the first airplane through premium security and back into the terminal. 

I went to the Galleries South Lounge, and it was packed.  It took me a couple minutes to find a chair for my remaining hour until boarding for the next flight.  After boarding in group 1, I settled into my seat (1C), which was setup identically to the previous flight.  I’m used to flights in the US, and on a flight this short, I wouldn’t expect a meal service, but I had been told that with the introduction a couple years ago of British Airways’ domestic business class, a small plate would be served.

The legroom was great because the bulkhead didn’t extend all the way past my seat, but it meant that during boarding everyone was filing right past me.

The service was quick and efficient since the flight was so short, but the flight attendant for our 4 rows was friendly.  I got what amounted to a small charcuterie board and a small bottle of champagne for my 40-minute hop.   The cheese was creamy and delicious, as were the cold meats and passionfruit cream.

For this short domestic flight, I got lounge access (3/5), a charcuterie platter (5/5), solid service (4/5).  The middle table was again helpful and nice to have, as was the additional legroom (4/5).  No flight on this route has in-flight entertainment.  Overall, I give this quick hop a 16/20.

Considering this flight netted me 40 BA tier points and took 40 minutes, 1 tier point/minute isn’t too bad at all.
